Baby's 100th Day 'Birthday'

When I was researching up about baby milestones I came across the 100th day birthday, now I never did anything like this with my first two and milestone cards were defiantly not around or as big as they are now when I had either of them. I do have milestone cards for Harrison, but I've never actually used them oops!
Although I didn't go all out with a party, banners and balloons like some do (more so in other countries, as it is VERY well celebrated) I did do a mini photoshoot with Harrison to make it special and remember that 100th day milestone.

I went with the milk bath idea as another mum friend had done her own little shoot like this and it had turned out so well that I just couldn't wait to give it a go myself.

I couldn't believe it was as simple as running a slightly warmer bath for Harrison and just adding your everyday off the shelf whole milk!

I'd not really done my own research, only what I had read from my friends blog post. She has a baby girl so she used pretty, colourful flowers. I felt that there were more props/foliage you could use in the bath for girls than boys.

I probably should have done a little more research when it came to foliage for boys, as pretty much all my foliage sunk.

Like with any baby photoshoot I end up with HUNDREDS of photos and only end up with a select few favourites. Personally I LOVE how they have turned out and I know that every time I look back at them, I will remember this was his 100th day in the world.
Be sure to check out the blog where I got my hints and tips on how to get the milk bath ready.

Did you know that the 100th day is celebrated as a birthday in some countries? Have you ever done a milk bath, what foliage worked best for you? I'd love to know as I'm defiantly going to try this out again in the future.

The Day We Found Out

I remember it like it was yesterday, well it pretty much was, but one whole year ago! (and one day)
Me and Matt had had a ‘lovers tiff’ the previous night, so me being a me told him not to bother coming back home that night and I also didn’t want to see or speak to him when I woke up in the morning.
Now I was supposed to be going out for the night with my friend and because we were trying for a baby I thought I'd best take a test, just so I could determine weather or not I should be going out.
I took the test in the morning and to my eyes I saw nothing.
It’s funny really, but because we were trying I had downloaded several pregnancy apps and I was keeping up to date with them all and the bounty app was all about faint test lines that day.
I don’t know what made me think it, but I went back and got that little test out our bathroom bin and low and behold this time I saw the faintest line I had ever seen.
I thought surely not, so I proceeded to take another three tests and there they all were, three little tests with six little lines (two lines on each test)
I knew at that point I couldn’t go out and I knew I’d have to speak to Matt because we were pregnant, I couldn’t not share that moment of happiness even though I was still quite annoyed with him.
I’m pretty sure I text him something along the lines of
‘I suppose you should come home' to which he replied 'why?' and I just said, 'I'm pregnant'
Not really the most joyous of announcements, but it helped break the ice after a heated argument.
I was so happy because I had always had this little idea in my head from the moment we had started trying that it would be a great idea to reveal to our parents on Christmas day that we were expecting. The plan was to have a 12 week scan before Christmas day so we would have a picture to show, but as we all know plans never go how we intend. We did still reveal to our parents on Christmas day however.

Do you remember the day you fond out? How long ago was it? Be sure to leave me a comment and let me know, I love hearing all the stories about how people found out!

My Top Three Breastfeeding Favourites/Must Haves

Today I thought I would talk about my favourite or must haves for breastfeeding. As little as it may seem, when I think of it I only really have three favourite/must haves when it comes to breastfeeding. Yup just THREE!
I currently only use two every day, but the third is super handy to have for those sore days and that is the Lansinoh nipple cream.
This is the first and only nipple cream I have ever tried and tested. I first tried in back in 2010 when I had my daughter so when I knew I was going to breastfeed Harrison I bought a new tube (obviously I didn't keep the one from 2010!)
I haven't really needed to use it, only when we got the yeast infection at the start of our breastfeeding journey and it helped a lot. I have a feeling it is going to come in handy when Harrison starts getting teeth, ouch!

My two everyday essentials are a good nursing bra and breast pads.
When it comes to nursing bras I feel like I have found the perfect one for me. I've always hated a 'thin' bra and the idea of people being able to see my nipples on a cold day. I have  always wore a padded wired one and whilst I found a nursing one like that, it just wasn't comfortable with the wiring so I had to try something I'd never tried before, no wires!
Luckily the first one I came across is the one I'm still using to this day. It is the H&M nursing bra and it is so soft and so comfortable and padded, so no chance of seeing nips on a cold day.
They aren't wired either, but they defiantly still give you that lifted look. Bonus they come in packs of two!
When it comes to breast pads I have tried and tested a few. I've tried your typical supermarket own brand, a well known brand and the freebies you are given in pregnancy packs. I had been reading a lot about leaking as I had my nipple pierced and decided to take it out and read that it would leak quite a bit. So when I was ordering all my breastfeeding essentials I came across the Lansinoh breast pads. These are the only breast pads I would personally recommend, I love them.
They don't feel 'cheap' like others can, they are soft and pretty much feel as if you aren't even wearing them. Also when you have to apply nipple cream they don't stick or irritate like I found with other breast pads. They have two sticky pads instead of one, so they stay in place which is especially great for in the night if you move around quite a bit.
They aren't the cheapest, but you get what you pay for. I buy mine in bulk at just under £20 so it works out cheaper and four boxes will usually last 4-5 weeks.
If you breastfeed or even formula feed what are your top three must haves? You could have a favourite brand of bottle or you might find a pump if in your top three, let me know!

Three Months of Harrison | Baby Update

Can it really be the three month mark already?! Slow down baby boy.
I'm not sure if it's because he is my third baby, or if because he is my first one with having a job and having a time limit to go back, but either way time is certainly flying by.
Even when I look at him now I still see that small little boy I gave birth to, then I see an old photo of him and I can't believe JUST how much he has changed.

I mean just look at the difference in those two photos!
Sadly I do believe Harrison has eczema, he had a 50/50 chance of getting it as Matt had it quite bad as a child and it did pass on to our first son too. We have been bathing him in Childs Farm products and applying their moisturiser, but I'm sad to say it hasn't really had any effect on his dry patches, his legs however feel silky smooth (I wish mine did ha!)
I will give it a couple more weeks and then maybe move onto something different.

We still can't determine the colour of his eyes as silly as that sounds. Some days they look blue, other days they look a dark grey and then sometimes green. I have noticed certain outfits bring out different colours, but I can defiantly say for sure they are not brown. With our first two you could tell instantly they had my brown eyes.
His hair is getting a lot thicker on top already, well I would say. I can defiantly see a lot more on top than when he was first born. He is fair on top and still a bit dark round the back/bottom. I feel he is going to have a golden hair colour like his big sister.

Guys, be proud... I FINALLY got him weighed properly!
Although it was like two weeks ago so I will probably do my little trick in the next couple of days for a three month estimate, but he was weighing in at 13 lbs 4oz so still gaining weight nicely. As per usual I have no concerns I can tell he is getting chunkier (and heavier!)
I think I may have to get Harrison checked out just because he is sick A LOT after feeds, well not like a lot of sick comes out, I mean he is sick pretty much every time after feeding. If not straight away usually 30 mins - 1 hour after. I have read that it can be common up until six months old, but then I have also read it could be something else, so best to get checked really to be sure I guess.

He has gone up to a size 3 in some nappies, although I went to get rid of all my size 2 pampers and noticed that on one pack it said 'up to 13lbs' and another 18lbs, bit sneaky there! So as he still fits in them I will be using them up, but going forward I will more than likely stick with Aldi's own brand. I mean 98 nappies for just under £5 you can't really go wrong!
He has also gone up into his 3-6 month wardrobe and I'm a little sad about this as I just want him to stay teeny tiny forever and some 3-6 fit snuggly already! I'm sure he will be out of that size before six months too.

I've noticed he has started to develop a little napping routine. He will usually have a nap straight after the school run and then again around lunch time. Sometimes he will have one late afternoon/evening nap, but not always.
We have tried putting him down for an earlier bedtime, but sadly it is just not working out for us. I guess he just isn't ready yet. I even bought a Ewan the Dream Sheep to try and help. It did for the first few nights, but now it is hit and miss.
Harrison is still waking up 1-2 times a night, but I really don't mind. I don't have to change his bum during the night anymore and I literally just dream feed him (I think that's the proper term for feeding him and sticking back in his bed lol)

If you have any help or advice on the sickness please do let me know!

My 'Hinch Haul'

Before I start the post I just want to say I am in no way bad mouthing or blaming Mrs Hinch for my Hinch haul, I absolutely LOVE her. I think she's amazing and it is great how she is helping so many people find their love of cleaning just by making it FUN. Because lets be honest, it really is not all glitz and glam!
However if like me you found yourself down the cleaning isle more often and picking up everything she uses (and more) did you stop and think, 'do I really need/use this?' because I bloody well didn't!
I couldn't stop myself, even if I already had an item and I saw it in a different scent I HAD to have it. I'm an impulse buyer so I didn't really stop to think what I was doing. It only dawned on me when I was trying to organise it all to fit nicely into my cleaning cupboard that I actually realised, crap, I have bought LOADS.
I'm going to be perfectly honest here there is probably one thing I won't really use, well I will because I hate wasting things, but that is the Zoflora. which I bought two bottles of. A big mountain air one (I don't even have a pet) and a small fresh linen one. I've had the stuff previously and quite frankly I did't get on with it, but that's where my impulse buying kicked in and now it sits in my cupboard waiting to be used.
To show you the extent of how much I actually got, I'm going to list it all...oh boy, don't judge me. *hides behind hands*

- a BIG red basket
- a small orange basket
- pack of x2 grey baskets
- pack of x2 clear baskets
- x2 tupperware (for my wax melts)
- Paul the pine (stardrops pine disinfectant)
- Dettol disinfectant spray
- Zoflora in mountain air + fresh linen
- Elbow grease
- Cif cream
- Flash all purpose spray x2 (fresh cotton and blossom and breeze)
- Flash multi surface
- Cif kitchen spray
- Flash bathroom spray x2
- Viakal
- Spontex kitchen kit
- Spontex bathroom kit
- x2 packs of Pinkehs
- pack of x4 microfibre cloths
- Pledge dusting wipes
- Dave (pledge duster)
- a fake dave (Davina)
- Aldi anti-bac wipes
- Wilko scrubbing wipes
- Lenor fabric softener
- Astonish oxy active
- Lenor unstoppables
- Ariel gel
- x9 packs of various wax melts
- x4 wax melt burners
- Duck toilet cleaner
- Aldi floor wipes
- Harpic toilet tablets
- Bloo cistern tablets
- fake Minkehs (Morgan)
- Flash bathroom
- Duck toilet fresh discs
- Duck toilet fresh discs refill (because I couldn't get the marine one)
- Duck toilet pine strips
- Dishmatic
- Dishmatic refills
- Batmatic sponges

I have found some new favourites that I think I will replace my old cleaning products with, like the Flash multi surface cleaner. I've been using it in my spray mop and it smells divine! And the Duck toilet cleaner.
There are also some new ones that I will continue to keep buying in the future, once I have used them all up! Defiantly some Dave refills. The Ariel gel with the Lenor fabric softer combined smells amazing and it really has lasted on our clothes, so I will be buying lots more of that in the future, but probably only when it's on offer as it is normally something like £8 a bottle! Duck toilet discs are here to stay and also the Harpic tablets because they are bloody amazing.
And of course there are those that I already had/used and will continue using such as Flash bathroom bottled and spray and good old Viakal.
After having Harrison I really did let my house go, but I found Mrs Hinch and she made me want to get up and clean, clean, clean. So thank you Mrs Hinch because you have helped me to find my love of cleaning again with a few new friends, Dave, Paul etc. I just don't think I needed to go as crazy as I did, oops!
Here's a quick little speed cleaning video I've done using some of my new products.

Did you go on a Hinch haul? Did you buy things you wouldn't normally? Have you found some new favourites? Let me know I'd love to hear about your own Hinch haul!
